Photography by the Manufacturer British publication Motorcaravan Motorhome Monthly has named the Ford Transit the best base vehicle for the second year running. Naming the Transit as the best base vehicle is a testament to the total package the Transit delivers to its buyers. Judges noted the Transit engines, which come in a variety of gas and diesel options, offered plenty of torque and load-pulling capacity. Twin rear-wheel versions of the Transit were also noted as being rock-solid on the road.
The product itself was not the only determining factor for the award. Ownership experience was especially important, and high consumer confidence in Ford's reliability and dealer network for servicing and warranty work assisted in making the awarding decision even easier. Available options for the Transit also helped, which included steering-wheel-mounted cruise control and audio buttons.
I've got the old Mark 4 with a 2.3 diesel (& with leather aircraft electric seating). Man it is strong, reliable & most of all a dream to drive despite no power steering. Would not swop it for the world.
