Euro-Tunnel is more expensive than the Ferries (unless you use Tesco Points). But it is faster by far.
If you are taking nervous animals abroad then this is the way to do it. Only a 35 minute journey and you stay in the vehicle with your animals, unlike the ferries. When boarding at the UK end there is usually time for a coffee and Croissant (in my case a Bacon Batch) at the Butty van, while waiting in the loading lanes.

Lost my tunnel virginity earlier this year, only with the car though. Fantasticly well organised, drive in, grab a coffee, drive onto the train, and away you go. Like you say, an absolute bargin if you shop at Tesco's, I always fill my works van up there, twice a week, looking to go that way 2011, next years prices would work out at about £110 worth of clubcard points, and that even includes thier insurence for two weeks.
