Has anyone any experience of damp problems at the rear of Compass Omega or Elddis Odyssey caravans with a windowless rear panel??
I just had to spend a four figure sum to fix really bad water ingress damage in my 7 year old Omega 534 fixed bed, and I'm trying to gauge the size of the problem. I heard that some of these vans from this year (2002) have had or are having this problem.

Firstly...don't panic..many damp problems can be fixed by a person with reasonable DIY skills, even pretty much rebuilt, but it can be a long process, but there is lots of help & advice out there!!
Right, so how do you know you have damp? silly question, but people have panicked before because of damp readings of 15% which is actually normal & not damp!!
Where is it? around a window, door, floor soft spot, ceiling, near the shower? location within the caravan helps as it can help to rule out causes.
Have you had a damp meter on it & near it to see how far the damp extends...may be the best few quid you ever spend!!
Don't be disheartened. I'm sure it can be fixed, but a little more information will help. Also, there is no point, as I'm sure you're aware, of just fixing the damp bit...for any repair to last, you need to address the source of the damp & fix that first if possible!!
The most important thing at the moment is get the caravan undercover to prevent more water getting in..a caravan cover will suffice & keep things dry whilst you get to grips with the problem.
The above are only my opinions having had a damp caravan, & I'm sure more knowledgeable people will be along soon to help.
