brought a second hand status 315 ariel, any body had these problems with theres, the picture is fussy, and fades, and is all the time in black and white pictures, my daughter has the same ariel fitted to her van and gets a good colour picture, has any one had the same, or have i brought a lemon
There are a lot of people that say the Status 315 (flying saucer) aerial is a waste of money. I fitted 1 to a Lunar van years ago with mixed results. They are good in strong signal areas, but rubbish in low signal areas. The Status 530 Directional aerial is a much better bet.
Having said that, if your daughter gets a good picture in the same area that you are not, then it would suggest a fault. Recheck all the connections, do you get any difference in picture quality with the booster on and off.

...might be worth checking the booster. I had bother with the on/off switch on mine. I didn't realise it wasn't clicking on properly, and after ages mucking about, trial and error resulted in showing the switch as a bit shonky. I WD40'd it and it has been OK for a couple of years now.
I also had an issue with the power adaptor for the booster - it had a dodgy connection, but you knew it wasn't right as no lights lit up on the booster.
hi bosshogg here have checked all connections and booster is fine,i have got a lemon me thinks, any way gone back to my ariel on a pole .hey presto lovley colour picture,so i guess you know my thoughts on this ariel c--p. bosshogg.
I've recently read that the boosters and ariel have to be a match based on the colour of the printing on both units for them to work properly, a point missed by many of the caravan Manufacturers according to Status in an email they sent to a chap who was having problems with his. Once he got the right booster his ariel was OK
