if this is the case then your braking the law the organizer needs to have exception certificate and insurance to run this type of meet.
We have exemption certificates etc, or we would not be offering it to you. personal exemption certs are the best way at only 5 pounds per year. As this is an 'Events' field, we are covered in all directions we are running this as a 'social event' not as a business. 'Own risk' is that you accept that I, personally will not be held responsible for loss, injury, theft etc [usual terms and conditions]and if you do not agree with them, then you are not accepted on this meet....simples! We are old hands in the world of camping and responsible people who are not inclined to break any laws. I have organised massive events in the past where as many as 13,000 people have attended per day and been entertained by such acts as the Red Arrows, so I do know what I am about! It might have been better that you asked if we had the correct paperwork rather than suggest that we were 'breaking the law'. If you are not 'happy' with my offer of a budget camping holiday, then I suggest the offer can be withdrawn and my membership of your forum terminated. I feel somewhat insulted! Paol.

Sorry to see that you have removed yourself from the forum as I'd liked to have seen your reply to the following.
What are "personal exemption certs are the best way at only 5 pounds per year" I have never heard of or can I find any such exceptions in the relevant legislation.
An exempted organisation may use a site for a meeting of its members only
I don't boubt that as you wrote "We are old hands in the world of camping and responsible people who are not inclined to break any laws" but camping with tents is not the same as Caravans which are covered by the The Caravan Sites and Control of Development Act 1960
The reason I pointed out that this type of event is illegal was to alert our members that they could be committing an illegal act in attending.
Well done for pointing this out. I for one am not sorry that the author of this has decided to leave. It makes me wonder why he put this post up. If he was a genuine member why would he leave when questioned about any aspect of the meet.
I wouldn't consider you as a kill joy. I believe that you have possibly saved some of our members from being prosecuted for Camping or Caravanning illegally. I think that we are lucky to have someone like you who is well informed about the legalities of Camping and Caravanning.
A bit late in the day to reply to this thread just to add the same person joined our club website in April 2009 and tried the same thing. I also know nothing of these personal exemption certs at only 5 pounds per year . I know members of ACCEO can obtain personal memberships but I believe they must be members of a club with ACCEO membership. We had to apply for the the paragraph 6 through the correct channels. Alas there are a few groups out there running as a club minus a exemption cert.
