The new Continuous Insurance Enforcement says from spring (exact date TBC) all cars, bikes & motor homes must be insured - even if no-one drives 'em. Beware of yours lapsing while on hols or in hospital.
The only way out is to apply for a Statutory Off Road Notification (SORN) declaring it's not in use.
The aim's to crack down on 2m uninsured drivers bymatching a database of cars to insured drivers. If there's no match, it'll warn people, then fine 'em (see car insurance rules).
Always Strive To Be The Person Your Dog Thinks You Are
Whilst I agree that it is a good idea. I think that the majority of people who don't have insurance drive mainly old bangers. Which means they are willing to take the chance that they won't get caught and won't mind the car being crushed. The fine they get for not having the insurance won't get paid and they might get 7 days inside and be out after 3.
