I've just acquired a redundant Sky HD box as I've had a new one fitted. Is it possible with my existing viewing card to use it in the caravan (with a suitable dish of course.) Or can it be used without the viewing card for free to air channels? Any help much appreciated (together with any ideas re kit required for UK only use) Thanks Rod
You can certainly use it to get the free to air programmes - anything more than that, Sky would have to be paid to Programme the card.
a Sky dish and LNB something to put it on (either a tripod or an extending pole you can clamp to your Jockey Wheel - the latter giving you more options if you need height) An in-line satellite finder meter or similar A cable to run from the LNB to the meter A cable to run from the meter to the Sky box
(once you've got everything working you can remove the meter and just have a cable from the LNB to the sky box).
Everything you need can be found on Ebay - and there's lots of tips and advice on the internet about setting up.

We take our spare sky box & hd card. If i don't take card, sometimes i cannot view all the channels. If you can, get a system with a lmb that has 4 takeoff points, and a twin cable, that way you maybe able to receive hd channels as well as free to air, depending upon which satellite you choose to tune into. Have a look at the Satgear site on Internet. All you questions will be answered there. We recently acquired a Nk43 system that does the job..with the aid of a compass and some research.
