I need an extra long wheel brace to use with my caravan motor mover. The one I have doesn't provide enough torque for me to pull the mover fully on. - but
I have been told that you can buy an extra long brace - but have not been able to find one on the web.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Mary, You have not included the length of bar you have, so I have added this for you to check: Telescopic extending handle extends from 355mm to 530mm, Fitted with durable rubber handle for extra grip and comfort, from here:
If you visit almost any car accessory emporium (dare I suggest Halfords as a starting point?), they should be able to offer a 1/2" drive extending wheelbrace which has a double ended 17mm and 19mm socket supplied with it. Screwfix show one in their latest catalogue on page 752, item 13244 at £8.99 although they are available for about a fiver. Don't forget, with Amazon, you may have to pay p&p on top of the price which may bring it up to what you would pay in an accessory shop. With the lever fully extended, the fair Gillian can put the motor mover on and take it off with ease.
Warning, although one should really use a torque wrench to tighten the wheel nuts/bolts on the caravan wheels, not everyone carries one. If you are tempted to use the extending lever wheelbrace do not use it in the extended mode when tightening up the nuts/bolts. It would be too easy to overtighten them. Undoing them is a different story. The fully extended lever makes easy work of undoing the nots/bolts.
