My partner Deb and I have just purchased a used Compass Avantgarde 200 and are making preparations to visit France and Germany in the summer. Can anyone recommed the most reliable method of navigation and finding stopover's and campsites?
Would the best method be to invest in a Snooper Sat Nav, which is programmed with this type of data. Or would it be better to be armed with the Michelin atlas for both France and Germany and the following book: All the Aires (France) and Reise Mobil/Board Atlas (Germany)?
Or should I post this question in another Subject?
I would recommend a combination of all three - you can never have too much info when travelling! With regard to SatNav, there are campsite downloads for most types of satnav (also for smartphones!) One of the best websites for downloads of campsite info & locations is ArchiesCampings, in excess of 30,000 European campsite on there (downloads are free). archiescampings.eu/downloadpage/

Can hugely recommend the snooper satnav, bought one a few weeks back when p.c. world were having a clear out. Archies is an excellent resource, but remember to have your brain in gear, it will take you to the campsites, but not always along roads wide enough for your van. As always, do your homework beforehand. But most of all, enjoy ;D

If there is anything else you want to know just ask. As you can already see someone will either give you the answer or point you in the right direction to find it. As far as finding Campsites you could also look at the Camping Cheque, and ACSI websites.
Retired to France with the Vintage Camping Panzer (Hymer B594 2.5td 1993) and the boss. Since 1962 we have Static'd, Tented, Trailer-tented, Caravanned and now Motor-homing or rather Campingcarists :-).
Have you thought of French Passion...stopovers in vineyards and farms, pay your €22 for the book and 2012 sticker and stay with some 750 wine growers and 800 farms for free, best thing we ever did. Motorhomes only. brens
