Morning all sorry for the daft question but im trying to change my breakaway cable ready for this year. I can only find 1 meter in length, is this a requirement by law?? The problem being is when i hitch up and any movement left or right is pulling on the van handbrake even just going around roundabouts which of course is dangerous and extremly annoying
I don't know if 1m is the law or not, but I recently bought a Breakaway Cable (By Maypole) off Flea-bay. However when it arrived I was not impressed as the cable seemed to be too thin, so I bite the bullet and Bought one from Al-co direct.
I've just been out and measured them and they are both 1m long, so that does seem to be the standard length. Having said that, the Al-co cable I fitted seems to be more than long enough. Incidentally the reason I changed the cable was because I wanted the Caribena type fitting that can be hooked directly on to my Tow-bar.
