Hi and welcome the the world of caravaning, i had a simular problem when we first went away, i had forgot to turn the switch on by the thermostat (2000, 1000, 500) its normally the silver outer dail as the centre one is the sat for the heating, Or it could be the switch on the heater its self, i dont put it on Auto, i hope this helps maybe sort it,

Well, I have been on this most of the day. I believe that the problem is one of two things. Firstly the main pcb behind the fire has relays which burn out. Easier to replace the pcb than the relays individually and costs around £80 Secondly there are 2 thermal cut out sensors. 1 at 125 and 1 at 175, these apparently are some what trickier to replace but come in at less than a tenner each. Having said all that it might be as simple as a faulty spur switch, the one with the fuse built in. Sometimes these go bad. I am going Stateside side again for a fortnight but will take this up on my return and I can get the van back to the house to do the work.
Ok, back from the States, got the van home and got some tools on it. Test meter immediately found fault to be the spur switch. Took it off, found a large blister behind the Live Load contact, obviously been arcing. Replace switch all working again.
