I have a Bailey Pageant Series 5 with a standard Ulra-store Water Heater. It works well on Electric but thought I try it on Gas just in case I should need it. Every other appliance works well on Gas but the water heat does not do anything, When I turn it on (outer dial to the on position) I can't hear a thing, no gas noise or ignition clicking, can any one help please?
I take it there is a built in ignition somewhere?
and I have taken off the outer cover from the flue!!
gas to boiler turned on?, somewhere, normally under cooker or sink, there are 3 or so gas taps, check that they are all in the on posistion, Battery got enough charge?, most burners drop out or fail to light if the 12v supply is to low. ~?There is water in the boiler I take it, most won't light is there is not enough water in the boiler, last thing I can think of, the temp. dial is turned up?, if all the way down, again, will not light. There, that should keep you out of trouble for a while
Senator 6 Wyoming, Jeep Grand Kareeoke, Full Wine Cellar, but still keepin' it country.

I have checked everything you mentioned but still nothing.
One thing that is puzzling me is that I have found the bank of gas taps, with each clearly marked with an icon - Fridge/Stove/Heater/Oven but no Gas Tap marked for a water heater, as shown in my Bailey Manual, there is a unmarked tap next to the Water heater itself, is there another tap for it somewhere else?
When you turn the outer dial it should light up Green, then if the burner does not lite it should go to Red. Have you checked the 'Water Heater' fuse on the Master Switch/Battery Charger Box, according to the Bailey Service manual it should be the bottom Fuse.
Daft question did you have the 12V master Switch 'ON' when you tried the Heater.

Thanks Mike, I have just checked what you have said, Vent is Off and I have checked the fuse, your right it is the bottom on, it looks perfect & when I turn the dial there is NO light coming on, Green or Red, I guess this suggests there is no power, I'm hooked up to mains and the Battery is fully charged, everything else is working as it should be.
No, it gets it's supply from the Main battery via the fuse. If you cant check the fuse with a Meter try changing it anyway, I have had fuses that looked perfect but were in-fact 'Blow', worth a try. I'm not sure if there is an 'Over-Heat' trip on the gas side, I'm sure there is on the Electric side. I'll try to look into it.

I had a play with my Water Heater on our S5 Senator and even with the vent cover On and the Gas Off it went through the motions of trying to light. IE turn on - Green light comes on - 2 secs later Gas Valve Clicks On - Igniter can be heard sparking - 7 secs later - Red light comes on and gas Valve closes.
I'm running out of ideas to check, anyone else got any ideas?
Found a Manual on the Heater, if you have a Meter you could check you are getting 12V to the heater (Page 11).
Also check the PCB Fuse (36), might be worth pulling the supply Fuse out of the Charger Unit when doing this.
1. If the cowl has been placed near or directly beneath an opening window, the device must be equipped with an automatic shut-off device in order to prevent operation with the window open.
If this is the case check that the window is closed correctly
Check this fuse Fuses The water heater 12 V fuse is on the electronic control unit on the water heater. As shown on page 5 of the PDF Manual that Mike posted.
as per manual
When switching on, the heater does not operate. – No 12 V supply voltage. – Window open. – Check the power supply (operation voltage min. 10.5 V). – Check the water heater fuse (refer to mainanance “Fuses”). – Close any windows above the cowl.
If the above does not help then you need to look at getting an expert on the job it may be the pcb board has "blown" or the control switch needs replacing.

"The water heater 12 V fuse is on the electronic control unit on the water heater. As shown on page 5 of the PDF Manual that Mike posted."
AidAn, you were spot on, it was that slow blow fuse on the unit! and it was missing??
When I bought the Caravan only 6months ago, I soon realised that the Room heater was not igniting & saw that the ignition battery pack had been taken out, I replaced it and it has been fine since & now the Fuse on the Ultra store is missing???
Is there any reason why these two units should be disabled? Its a Series 5 2005 Bailey Pageant Champagne that was sold in the UK, bought by an Irish Dealer, who I bought it from, all its history is perfect. Would a dealer in the UK disable the units if they have not been tested prior to selling?
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, I have a fuse on order. Paul
Good question why disable the gas heating Not sure about an answer Was it used only on an electric hook up pitch and rented out Is there a Irish bylaw Gas regulation that doing this meant the caravan no longer needed to meet if it was rented out
Does seem some one went to a lot of effort to disable the gas heating could be they don't like using it in a caravan which I know some on this forum don't like to use gas heating as they think it's not "safe"
My advise would be to get the gas system checked out by a corgi registered expert so you know it's safe to use

One suggestion I have had is that if your just using a hook up, by taking the fuse & the ignition pack out, it stops any risk of children fiddling? both controls are at a good height for little fingers & the Control for the ultrastore is in reach of the lower bunk!
Thanks everyone for all the help and advice. Paul.
