The £62 per night was for the site only. That was a "premium pitch" with waste and water on the pitch.
Considering I paid £60 per night at Sandy Balls in the New Forest over Easter, I thought that £62 per night with a 30 second walk to an immaculate beach, a spotless site (see report) and over 30 degrees every day wasn't bad!
Well, we've just returned from yet another Caravan Club Centre Rally, and fortunately we can move the decimal point one place to the left, as actual pitch fees were a mere £6.50 per night. So two more nights please, miles towed around 100, and total fees £13.00. Oh and we also took part in the Centre's "Grand National" race as well. Great and hilarious fun - on hobby horses
Back to site fees. Each to his own obviously, but we were only discussing during this weekend Club Site fees as bordering on the excessive, plus the totally unjustified "Seasonal" pricing being hardly in keeping with the ethos of a Member's owned Club, so the idea of paying in excess of £60.00 per night, however great the facilities, is simply not for us. As a retired couple, who fortunately prefer the laid back simplicity of CLs and farmer's fields, and the return to basics which this style of caravanning gives us - with the accompanying low prices - it is only this type of siting which allows us to build up our total of nights away. The thought of last year's total night's away costing in excess of £10,000 would be unjustifiable, even if we could afford it, which of course we can't. But as I said, each to his own.
Wow, lots of nights to add to the list, I will wait till tomorrow to add them.
I suppose £62 per night is not too bad for a fully serviced pitch in the height of the season on a Prime location Camping Site. From his excellent >review< Paul seems to have enjoyed his holiday so it was worth the price. We have only ever been abroad off season and tend to pay with Camping Cheques or an ACSI card, so we have no idea what the 'Normal' prices are for these sites.

Please can you put me down for 3 nights at a very noisy Scragged Oak Caravan Park, Detling, Kent. (Military Odyssey going on next door at Kent County Showground firing some very big guns!! ). 60 towed miles @ £14.50 per night. Thanks Paul
Another few days for us over the BH Weekend, so could you please enter us for seven days, at £5.00 per night, and one mile towed ! !
Actually, we were back onto our favourite CL, Lodge Farm, nr Banbury, which is all of half a mile from where our van is stored on the old WW2 Shennington airfield. The Lodge Farm CL is on the opposite side of the Shennington road from the airfield, and incorporates a couple of the old Apron standings, so is available all year round. The view is outstanding, and although a basic non EHU site, we simply enjoy the peace and quiet of the place, plus the glut of runner beans which the SO insists on distributing amongst her visitors ! ! ! Oh, and the fun of watching the gliders taking off and landing, or if we're lucky, watching the glider aerobatics. I never knew until I'd witnessed it a couple of times that gliders could actually execute a complete "loop the loop". I'll try and put up a couple of (non-glider) photos after the weekend.
Ooooppsss, a computer glitch I see ! ! Thanks for adjusting our mileage total, and also our average cost per night. But could you, pretty please, arrange for the 'pooter to also add in our additional seven nights, as our total should now read forty five, and the silly machine forgot to do the arithmetic.
Done that Neil, computer has been given a good ticking off Trooper
