nice link there just a pity alot of the small camping sites are closed.
kiaman midges are mostly west coast and inland . best to stay east coast or on the coast if your in the west.

Thanks for the link Daisy - we are looking at touring scotland next year for our summer hols.... nice website.
As we are on the subject can anyone recommend a site up near Thurso or along the North Coast.... want to spend three or four nights; with all normal services (leccy, chemical disposal etc)

Their sites are always to a high standard. (Site is called Dunnet Bay)

The midges are mostly in the western half of Scotland. But the east coast is usually colder than the west, or covered in what they call a 'har'. Fog is what the rest of the country calls it If you are going to the west .I advise taking an insect killing UV lamp Available from www.towsure.com and plenty of tropical insect repellant From Boots. These two items seemed to work the best. The midges are so small you don't see them or hear them, but when they find you, You don't forget them in a hurry. The little BUG***S Andy
