During the summer (yes we do get them in Scotland, now and again lol) we drove up to Sutherland, am shamed to say we had never visited that part of our homeland before...the site was well worth the drive, with the beach practically on your door step it was a great place to chill out, the site owners Isabel and Jim are simply the best, all the reviews we read about them on scottishcamping.com were all true. Here is a link to the clachtoll beach site.
It is fab Andy, another thing i forgot to mention was that the only thing on site is really clean toilet and shower block and the laundry has a large washing machine, and tumble dryer and under the sink the owners supplied a very large box of daz soap powder and fabric softner for the guests just to use. there is also a hot drinks machine which was a god send to those in tents arriving late on site.the people in tent next to us were from wigan and had trouble with the tent during strong winds, the owner sent them away for a walk and came and gathered up a few helpers from the site and we all helped sort their tent, the owner actually dug holes in the ground to help secure the poles with going into tubing that he had...it was amazing, all the woman helped dry out their belongings and ground sheets and the owner dried all their stuff in tumble drier. Everyone on site said they had never witnessed a site owner being so kind in all their years of camping..
