Hello All, We have a Swift Corniche 17/3 van built 1999 which we bought in 2013. I have up till now not attempted to arm the alarm system, however, this needs to be done on occasions. My question is simply, where is the back up battery located ? the alarm instructions would indicate that the battery where ever it is located is kept "topped up" by the vans on board charger ? bearing in mind the age of the van and assuming the battery is of an SLA type, then I am pretty sure that it is well passed its sell by date. I have tried to contact Swift regarding the above but without success. The alarm keypad is located next to the radio/cd player and I have not attempted to remove this panel to see whether this is the place that the battery in concealed. Does anyone have any ideas? Many thanks. g4euf

Do you know what make the Alarm is? The Oldest Swift Caravan Hand Book I can find is for a 2000 model and this says the Alarm is an IDM200. My last Caravan (a 2005 Bailey) had an IDM4 Alarm and the Battery was in the Alarm Unit which was mounted under the front seat next to the Main Caravan Power Supply Unit and was connected to the 'Key Pad' by a 'Ribbon' Cable. I don't know how the Alarm Unit came apart as I never had call to change the Battery. Anyone else got any ideas. Trooper PS Please don't put the title of the Post in All Capital Letters.

Hello Trooper, Thank you for your reply, I appreciate it. According to the information I have the alarm unit is a IDM-1C and as you would suggest the SLA battery is internal to the alarm unit which in our case is situated under the O/S bed box. I have now managed to glean a little more information from another caravan owner who has given me a photo copy of the instructions for his particular alarm unit which would appear to be very similar and I will on our next visit to our storage unit attempt to test the state of the battery. Once again my thanks for taking the trouble to reply to my query. Kind regards. g4euf.
