Hi All,
Have been out of commission for this year so far due to interesting accident over Christmas when a nocturnal visit to the bathroom away from home led to a tumble down stairs from top to bottom, breaking neck and back in several places, three weeks in hospital, and several months getting it all back together. Fortunately, no other broken bones, apart from a scattering of ribs, and nothing paralysed, and life goes on. But caravanning has of necessity been on hold. However, with a three week trip to Cornwall coming up at the end of this week, it is time to re-commission the 'van, which has not really had much TLC since last autumn. We collected it from storage today, and although the batteries seem reasonably well charged, considering the time period laid off, I can so far not achieve any domestic 12v lighting or reading on the Control Panel voltmeter.
The motor mover powers up, as does the 12v Mains Inverter, which are directly connected, and my hand held meter shows a charge of 12.2v. The battery+ fuse on the fuse panel tests out intact, but with the 12v isolator on the Control Panel switched on, there is a not a flicker on the voltmeter, and with the 12v lighting switch on the Control Panel switched, there is also not a flicker from the lighting. I am aware that when the 12v cable from the tow car is connected, a relay cuts out the caravan electrics, giving the same symptoms, or lack of them. Is it possible that this relay is faulty, and if so, on a Bailey Senator Indiana, where am I likely to find this relay located.
I have Googled this problem, and there seems to be a number of similar cases relating to the battery charger unit, but as we have not been connected to a mains supply since re-commissioning the 'van early last year, as we rely entirely on Solar Panel charging, hopefully, this is unlikely to be the problem.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be most welcome.
Many thanks
