Hi all,
it's been a while since I posted anything on here. Unfortunately, after picking up my new Bailey Ancona in March and looking forward to a great year of caravanning which was going to include 3 weeks in the south of France, I got diagnosed with cancer.
It started as what I thought was a painful wisdom tooth so I did what any man would do and took some paracetamol. By the time I talked myself into going to the dentist, it transpired that it was something much worse and was actually cancer. The tumor had grown into my lower jaw bone and the cancer had spread to one of the lymph nodes in my neck. Needless to say that they caught it just in time and thanks to the NHS, my private medical insurance and the love & support of my family I am getting back to full fitness
I've had to have half of my lower jaw removed and replaced with bone & tissue from my lower leg (donor site looks like a shark bite so is a great conversation piece ) and they have also taken away the lymph nodes on the infected side. All of this means they are 100% confident they got it all and the 6 weeks of radiotherapy treatment I had was an insurance policy to turn that 100% confidence into 200% confidence.
I have finally managed to use the van for the first time in what seems like an eternity do will be adding my updates to the number of nights away and will also post site reviews of the 3 sites I will be visiting in France and Spain over 4 weeks in the summer.
Here's to a great caravanning 2017 season to all.
