The site is set in the middle of 70-acre estate, which was once a school, where the rugby and football pitches that have been turned into equestrian facilities. A 17th century chapel, open to the public during daylight hours. EHU is 16 amps to all the grass pitches and is very neat and mown regularly. The site is split into 2 areas the main CL (5 vans) with water tap and grey waste water point and recycling rubbish bins, there is a WC but is away from the main CL and next to the stables. The chemical waste point is between the main site and the overflow site which allows 3 vans with EHU and one pitch has hard standing (which we used during our stay due to very bad weather) During the summer months campers can have free use of the outdoor swimming pool and tennis courts.
There is a Park n Ride into York at Poppleton Bay about 5 miles from site towards York on the A59, where you can find a garden centre. York Rail museum is also worth a visit, free admission but they do like donations (collection boxes all over the place)
Beningbrough Hall NT property and Nunnington Hall NT are close by.
