This site is set in 1 acre and slightly sloping. Access is by the electric gates operated by a key fob provided by owner on arrival. All grass pitches. EHU points are located along the edge of the field, enabling great space between units. The site is very quiet and well away from the main road, there is a dog walk behind the site with a style allowing walkers the access footpaths that run from the site. The water tap is located on the side nearest to the road and the recycling and chemical empty point are at the top of the field. The grass was kept short and collected, so not much grass getting into the van. The owners are very friendly and welcoming.
The CL is situated a mile from Portesham, once home to Sir Thomas Masterman Hardy, famous 19th century Portesham resident who, as Captain of HMS Victory at the Battle of Trafalgar, fought under Lord Nelson's command. Durdle Door is worth a visit car parking is expensive (again IMHO)
Just six miles south is Weymouth with its award winning sandy beach and bustling harbour. There many attractions, including the 120ft viewing tower were you can see all along the coast to Lulworth in the east and to the west Portland, and Portland Bill are worth a visit, beware the car parking charges are quite expensive (IMHO) there is a cafe. If you prefer to walk to Portland then there is a free car park behind the Hotel (The Heights) Also worth a walk round the Portland stone remains where you can find sculptured stones and a circle of stones which show fossils (not sure if they are genuine though)
Seven miles east is the county town of Dorchester the birth place of the writer Thomas Hardy. It also boasts the Tutankhamun Exhibition and the Dinosaur Museum, steeped in history and the home of Judge Jefferies.
Abbotsbury has local shops also its famous Swannery and Sub Tropical Gardens. From the top of Abbotsbury Hill you can see Lyme bay.
6 miles for supermarkets etc in Weymouth and Dorchester. The Turks Head in Chickerell is worth a visit good food and beer.
Would certainly return.
