We have been to this site many times and enjoy every visit. This is a quiet site in rural part of Staffordshire It is a great base for visiting historic houses, castles and market towns, the National Memorial Arboretum, Uttoxeter races and the world famous Burton breweries with great local pubs!
The CL is a family run farm with Hereford herd. There is a butcher now within the farm buildings The farm produces and sells hay, silage, animal feeds catering for all sorts of animals, poultry and wild birds, the CL has it's own entrance in and out but is now shared with the butcher shoppers and can get busy at the week ends, but we did not find it a problem.
The CL is situated a field away from the road with a mature hedges. It is slightly sloping, so levelling blocks may be required but not often. It is regularly mown and the hook-ups are well spaced to allow maximum use of the field. choice of where you site your van so you can enjoy the open views across the valley. The drinking water tap is close to the entrance gate along with Chemical toilet empty point and waste bin.
Yoxall village is approx a mile away, sadly no longer has a post office and one of the pubs has closed, but The Foresters pub about 300 yards away on the main A515 road serves excellent well priced food and drinks, but if you want to eat in the evening or Sunday lunch then booking is highly recommended. The Meynell Ingram is two miles away in Hoar Cross, again serving food, we did not go here but the CL owners Sue and Eric say they too do good food.
Sue and Eric provide a folder with tourist guides to help you make the most of your visit if needed. Other places to visit are: the Cathedral city of Lichfield, Burton on Trent with its brewing museum, the National Forest Visitor Centre, Cannock Chase, Barton Marina, Fradley Junction on the canal, Ashbourne (gateway to the Peak District).
National Trust properties are: Sudbury Hall, Shugborough, Calke Abbey and Keddleston Hall.
