Hi all, I am brand new to motorcaravanning after making the jump from tenting, I decided to buy a van and a few weeks ago I became the proud owner of a 1994 Swift Royale 610 Lux on a Talbot Express. I love it to bits but I have one problem and that is a horrible smell wafting through the van for a few hours after moving it. It is not the toilet and I have added a scented cleaner to the drains but it still persists. After a few hours the smell vanishes and I dont get it again untill the van has stood for several days.
Plese let me know what I am doing wrong or how to solve my problem as I am desperate to get rid of this awful whiff
Hi, It doesn't seem to be coming from sink. I put some sweet smelling biodegradable all singing all dancing plughole and waste cleaner down and flushed the system a few hours later and they still smell fresh. Thanks for the reply though. Nigel
hi we had a smell in our shower room at home that only came when hot water went down the drain so i called someone out well they found Hair, loads of it and boy it stink, we never thought it could be that.
I would pull all the drain piping out and have a look, get under the van where the kitchen is and trace the pipes , they probably have a build up of years of muck in them. If you cant be doing with the chew as its now getting wet and cold bung a load of mr muscle in them and then give em a good flush. If theres carpets in the bathroom are they clean? the previous owners may have had messy kids..ones that miss the pot so to speak.
Hi Just got back from a few days away in the van and am happy to report that all smells are gone. Before I went, I removed the main plug from the waste tank and powerhosed the tank out from underneath. Then I swilled the tank out once again and added a spot of elsan blue down all three plugholes and the problem had vanished. Thanks to all with their suggestions Nigel
