The Camping and Caravanning Club will be holding their "National Feast Of Lanterns" (NFOL) in 2011 over the Bank Holiday weekend 25th-29th August at Newark Showground in Nottinghamshire. Part of the activity planned is an attempt to set a new world record for The largest gathering of people dressed as Robin Hood!!
I kid you not!!
The District of Newark and Sherwood is famed worldwide for its connections with the legendary hero Robin Hood. His home was the nearby Sherwood Forest. There are many reminders of his presence throughout the District.
The present record, set in 2008, stands at 1119 Robin Hoods....
The Camping and Caravanning Club expect more than 2,000 units to be attending the NFOL, and therefore feel they have an excellent chance of regaining the record.
All participants must be dressed in a complete costume, consisting of hat with feather, green or brown tunic, trousers/tights and appropriate footwear.
The style of clothing must be in keeping with the traditional Robin Hood style.
Prizes will be given for the youngest and oldest Robin Hoods; the best dressed male & female Robins, the most unusual costume and everyone will be entered into a free draw.
Sounds good to me - and don't forget the cameras and videocams!!
