Get it checked out before you buy
Do you know a reliable vehicle mechanic?? It is worth it to give him 50 euros to do a full check over for you
The fiat chassis with the 2.5 tdi motor is very good And hymers are generally very well built But as with all things, they tend to break down with age Look for leaks along the sides of the van and inside the storage area where the water system is the pipe work sometimes splits near the pump
The more service history with the vehicle the better the picture you can gain of how well the vehicle has been looked after
Hope this is a help to you and good luck

My Hymer B594 is slightly younger being a 1993 model on the trusty Fiat Ducato chassis, what I would say, condition apart is 1) Get one with the Turbo ie 2.5td 2) Check that it has power steering 3) Not all had a drivers door and with the 544 the only door is at the back, a long way off.......... Check for damp in the region of the front pillars usually condensation caused, and that everything works. do not touch one with a damaged screen unless you are getting at least a €600 discount!! Remember you could do a lot worse
