Dickers has asked me to Post this to Warn our Members of a Computer Scam.
If any of the Members of this Forum or any of their friends or relatives get a phone call from an organisation calling itself "Home IT Master", hang up immediately. IT IS SCAM!
They are very plausible. They start the conversation by saying that Microsoft have asked them to contact you because your computer is sending error messages. They then ask to access your computer to put the errors right. Needless to say, once they have access to your computer, goodbye all you personal details and most important, your bank and credit card details, personal ID, password and memorable word (the one where the bank asks you to select certain characters on a random basis)
Initially, nothing happens, so you think everything is OK and above board. What the crafty blighters do is wait say, 6 months then hit the accounts when everybody has forgotten about it and it is very difficult to prove that a fraud has been committed.
This company is widely reported on the internet as a scam so be aware.
Take care,
Dickers
