This is to cover the rising price of utilities and the day to day costs of running a network of 160 UK Club Sites. """"

That's why we use CLs so much. The Club is gradually pricing itself off the market. There are some commercial sites that cost less per night than the Club and there are a few CLs about with toilets, showers, plumbed in water and waste disposal at a lot less than than £25+ per night. Some even have free Wifi not that that is a particular attraction to me. The only thing I need internet for is emails and I can deal with them on my phone. If I cannot get internet for whatever reason, tough, it will have to wait until I can. We're on holiday so there! (Raspberry) The one saving grace with Club sites is that one knows exactly what to expect when booking a Club site with regard to facilities and cleanliness etc. Some of the commercial sites leave something to be desired. The facilities on CLs are getting better and better. OK, the majority are pretty basic but does that that matter? Modern caravans have all the bells lights and whistles. Mind you, there are some caravanners who simply don't use the facilities available in their caravan, a situation which I find difficult to comprehend but that is only my opinion. I once came across a caravan on a dealers forecourt which was about 5 years old. The cooker hob had never been used because the lady of the house didn't like the smell generated when the cooker hob is used for the first time. On another, the toilet had not been used because the owner shuddered at the thought of emptying the catch tank. ( ??) Rant over. Roy.............(Dickers)

Hello Roy .the clubs CL/CS are their saving grace I always thought that having shower /loo in the van/MH there to use silly me there are some commercial sites that I would give a miss the site in my earlier post was very busy and at the w/e lots of children but -- shower block spotless all times of the day no litter and grassed area fit for bowling green oh and peaceful £18 PN so the clubs (sites ) are pricing themselves off the market
oh another rant over I think

We always preferred the CL/CS sites because of price against club sites. However, Phoenix Camping Club members prefer to use club sites, so if I want to meet up with other members then I am restricted.

We use CL's 99% of our breaks, only going to use Ferry Meadows for Christmas and that is very expensive for the Christmas season but we do like the walks direct from site, we have been looking for alternative CL's that are open all year, hard-standing close to bus routes so we can get on/off site with van if it snows and freezers and provide walks direct. Last year we went to Shropshire Adults Only site everything we needed in a site except the walks were on green lanes and as we had so much rain last year we needed wellies instead of walking boots which made the walks very hard going so we gave up and just enjoyed the warmth of the van.
I think the club is starting to out price themselves we are also looking at moving our insurance cover to another provider as they are not as competitive as they used to be..
