Accidentally stumbled across this thread as saw the subject and thought I must add my recent experience! Not happy that they recently changed the type of fares, they used to be very flexible and allow you on the route Dover - Dunkerque or vv with a 2 hour gap, which means you could get on the one before or the one after if you arrived early or late, free of charge (providing there is space). Recently we booked through www.ferrysavers.co.uk who were cheaper by a little bit (every little helps) turned up at the port early to be told that the type of fares have now changed by DFDS and that you need to pay extra for a ''Premium'' fair to get the flexibility which was once something you got of a standard economy fare anyway. We werent very happy so resulted in staying in the cafe by the port.. Will bare this in mind for future!
