We have just bought another 20 Camping Cheques through the French site they cost £11.69 each. This included all fees on the credit card. This saved us £3.26p a cheque a total of £65.20p. The exchange rate has gone up slightly since then so they would work out evene cheaper.

When we went to France for a month recently we used about 8/9 campsites and two of them were in the ACSI book and the others were mainly Municipals. I have purchased Camping Cheques from the French site in the past but tend not to bother with them now. I suppose if you have a few favourite campsites that accept them its worth while but less so if you prefer not to tie up money in cheques.

Hi David We stop on one site in France which takes Camping Cheques for about 4 weeks. We also use them and Acsi in all of the other sites we use. They are not for everyone but they suit us, we also use sites that don't take either like in Caen.

Les We stopped using Camping Cheques when the price went up even when the exchange rate should have brought them down. We have 5 left which we will use in the UK next season. When we have been on UK sites which take ACSI cards, we have used them because they are exchange rate linked and always less expensive than Camping Cheques. When in France we have used both. Using Municipale sites is a good way to go as they are generally inexpensive and many have excellent facilities. Some are a bit time worn but the majority are kept in good condition. Dickers.

The municipal Des Pommier in Ouistreham is a brilliant site for the ferry, we have used it quite a few times going to and returning from France. We were concerned the first time as there were reviews say it had a lot of Gypsies on there. We had no problems at all, when we got our Volvo V70. The only pitch we could get on had a small kerb and reversing on it the jockey wheel hit the kerb, and there was a Big Bang. The Gypsies opposite came running out of their vans and looked we told them all was ok and they went back in. Yes we have and will continue to use it.

We still like Camping as Cheques as you can stock up on them from their French Web Site when the exchange rate is good. They last 4 years on a 'Gold' Card and there is still a number of nice sites that take them. We also use the ACSI discount card. This year we used 8 cheques on our 21 night trip to Europe. All the sites were Full facility sites, swimming pools, restaurants etc. 3 nights at Kompass Camping in Nieuwpoort, Belgium. ( www.kompascamping.be/en/ ) Large site within walking distance of Nieuwpoort. 3 nights at La Ferme des Aulnes in Nampont-Saint-Martin, France. ( Les Ferme des Aulnes ) Nice smallish site in 2 parts, in isolated country side. 2 nights at Chateau Granspette in Eperlecques, France. ( Chateau Granspette ) Nice medium sized site, handy for Channel Ports/Tunnel, Supermarket (with fuel) and Vets close by. We had 2 nights on ACSI (€14/night) at Les Breuils by Verdun, France. ( Les Breuils ) Nice Small/Medium sized site, handy for the Verdun sites. A tour Bus took trips from the Camp site, though we did not use this. The rest of our nights were on Camping Car Aires.
