Clitheroe Camping and Caravanning Club Site, Edisford Road, Clitheroe, Lancashire, BB7 3LA Tel:- 01200 425294 The Clitheroe site does not have genuine 'Hard Standing' pitches, they are reinforced grass which can get quite muddy during wet weather, this is not helped by the ground being slow draining. The Service Blocks where clean and bright but in need of refurbishment. The Motorhome Service Point is near the Entrance of the site not ideal for emptying your tanks before moving on and because of the layout of the site going out the exit and straight back into the entrance is impossible, you have to go out to the main road turn right, then right again into the Car Park, turn around then head back to the site or you can cheat and reverse up the site road as we did. The site is well situated for visiting Clitheroe town and it's Castle, about a 20/25 minute walk. The reception sells walking guides at 20p each though we found the milage on the guides to be rather optimistic, our Memory Map Tracking App said the 2 mile walk was 3 miles and the 5 mile walk was 6 miles. Some of the field the walks take you trough were rather muddy and good waterproof boots are recommended. There is a Riverside park next to the Camping site complete with a miniature Railway. There is also a sport complex across the main road with a Swimming Pool. This was our second visit to the site. The video below shows the approach to Clitheroe and the site, for some reason I ignore the 'Turn Left' instruction (which is advised by the Camping & Caravan Club) but we still got to the site Trooper

We have been on quite a few C&CC sites where the toilet blocks are in serious need of refurbishment. At Chipping Norton they re did the site roads and created more (proper) hardstanding but did nothing to the toilet block. Its not a major problem for us as we use our own facilities but I wouldn't be so keen if I was in a tent!!! I wonder if some of their sites are on very short leases so its not worth spending the money. The site manager at Norwich told me the Council only renew the lease on an annual basis.
