Well we returned to this site after 7 years and it has not changed one bit, the owners continue to work hard, we did arrive before she managed to cut the grass after the previous campers had left as she had been out, not a big problem, she did cut it when she returned but we had already put the awning up. The weather was not brilliant while most of England had high temps we were greeted with wind and rain, it still did not stop our enjoyment of the area. We did manage to see a seal and her last years pup playing in one of the coves on our walk towards Trefin. We were disappointed with the Ship Inn in Trefin as they were not serving food. . The barmaid said they would be serving food the next day with a new menu, so we decided to walk the same way again, with the anticipation of a pint and food for our return walk, when we arrived at the pub the sign was outside stating we are serving food with new menu and the times they would be open, so we walked in only to be told no food until next week, said they were "sorry" but were laughing at the same time, we left without a pint, will not be using them again, walked next door to the café who were only serving rolls/cobs and tins of coke as they were not fully open due to refurb and lack of staff, but we did get a coke and sandwich, for our walk back to site. We had a lovely meal at the Farmer's Arms at Mathry staff brilliant. Whitesands is a nice place to visit but parking cost £5.00 all day and toilets are 40p per visit. Porthgain is worth a visit nice fish & chips at the Cabin, parking is limited and need to get there early, you can walk to the Blue Pool from here if you are fit, that is. Another place to visit is Porth Clais (NT) so free parking if you are NT member, again you need to get there early as the carpark is small, the car park before this is not NT, so you will need to pay if you use this even if you are NT member. Haverfordwest is the nearest place for shopping, the Spar shop within the fuel station at Square and Compass is well stocked but expensive, still cheaper for a few items than travelling the 30 mins down the road. Diesel here was £1.999 per litre We plan to revisit again in a few years time. Entrance to farm road View of site from gate and recycle point Chemical empty point

The Meadows Bryncrug, Tywyn, Gwynedd. LL36 9PR Date visited – June 2022 Unit - Car/Caravan Awning or Motor-home Price per night - £20.00 Awning per night – Porch £2.00 Awning Full – £3.00 Wi-Fi – Free Electric Charges – At the time of our visit 0.31p per KW Electric Vehicle Charging Points - None This is a Caravan Club CL (Members and Adults only) Access to and from site is good with care. The site has 5 well sized hard standing pitches with hedging to provide some privacy, awnings can be erected on the hard standing or on the grass and car parked in front of the van, the owners ask that no cars are driven on the grass, this can make it difficult for those using pitches 4 and 5, all have individual EHU, The owner asked that we used our grey water waste on the hedges, so we set up our direct pipes instead of using the wastemaster, there are no drive over facilities for motor-homes to discharge their waste tanks, WC/showers on site in the building behind the gate there is also an additional toilet if the shower is being used, chemical disposal (Green fluid only) and re-cycling bins are on site these are to the centre of the site. The owners provide satellite TV boxes, and all the necessary cables along with a welcome pack which has the Wi-Fi access code. During our stay we lost connection several times the owner did sort it quickly. Within 400 yards is the Peniarth pub we had some lovely meals there. Tywyn and Aberdovey are worth a visit. Tywyn is about 2 miles away, can be walked in about 1hr with its shops, numerous places to eat and sandy beaches, dog friendly to most parts. Aberdovey has a great fish & Chip shop (Walker Chippy). The Dolgoch Falls are worth a visit car park charges apply, but we noticed not many people paid. There is a cafe before you enter the foot path to the falls. Wollerton Meadows Wood Lane Wollerton Market Drayton Shropshire TF9 3NY Date visited – May/June 2022 Unit - Car/Caravan Awning or Motor-home Price per night - £15.00 incl Wi-Fi – Not available Electric Charges – Included in price Electric Vehicle Charging Points - None This is a Caravan Club CL (Members and Adults only) Good access to site from the road, the road into the site is made up of concrete railway sleepers, access to the site is down these passing a wooden shed on the right, then enter site on your right, your allocated pitch will be on the board on a small shed. The owners live on site in a wooden cabin, and allow campers to walk around their garden. The site has 6 fair sized hard standing strip pitches for unit (all used but not at the same time), awnings can be erected on the grass and car parked in front of the van, all have individual EHU, Caravan Club Website states each pitch has its own water tap, whilst this is true they are not close enough to hook up direct water feeds, in fact I could not find any water tap allocated to pitch 3 so they used pitch 5 water tap, no drive over facilities for motor-homes to discharge their waste tanks, only an empty drain next to the recycle bins and Toilet empty point. No WC or showers on site so you will need to use your own on-board facilities, chemical disposal and re-cycling bins are on site these are to the centre side of the site. The site is next to a working farm but they are considerate and do not usually start work until 08.00. Place worth a visit is Hodnet gardens down the road, it is a privately owned house and gardens, the house is not open to the public, but the gardens are, the site owner lent us a booklet that gave us admission 2 for the price of 1. There is a cafe on site with seating inside or outside, I would recommend the ploughman’s. Ariel View of site Site Entrance off road Driveway from road to site

The Orchard Caravan Site Locko Lane Farm, Locko Lane, Chesterfield, S45 8AW Date visited – March 2022 Unit - Car/Caravan or Motor-home Price per night - £18.00 incl This is a Caravan Club CL (members only) Access into the site is quite tight so you need to approach with some care as you will need to make a right turn to the entrance. The site entrance gates are set at an angle to the road into the field allowing car/caravan or Motor-home to get off the road. Pitch allocation is shown on a board at the gates; the owner asks that you drive straight to your pitch without stopping on the slight grass incline. The site has 5 good sized hard standing pitches all have individual EHU and mains water taps large enough to have car, caravan and awning, no drive over facilities for motor-homes to discharge their waste tanks, only an empty drain near to the information hut and spare grass pitch. Pitches 3, 4 & 5 can run pipes to the edge of the field, but pitches 1 & 2 will need to use waste water containers. Each pitch has views. We needed levelling blocks on pitch 3. No WC or showers on site so you will need to use your own on-board facilities, chemical disposal and re-cycling bins are on site, these are near to the entrance gate. No dog walks facilities on site but can be exercised on the public footpath adjacent over 2 styles. If you are into walking, this site is ideal, as the Five Pit Trail is only 15mins away via the fields or approx 10mins by the road. Just to reiterate, this is a working farm, we were woken each morning at 05.00 by tractors loading their slurry tanks for muck spreading, and also clearing out the cow sheds, maybe this is less of a problem when the cattle are out on the fields. We found the road noise was also a problem with the “boy racers” this did eventually calm down as did the tractor noise towards evening. The Shoulder at Hardstoft is open most of the day and serves very nice food we were told their Sunday lunches are very nice too but when we asked to book a table the earliest time was 3.45pm, too late for us so did not bother, so if you do want to go there, book earlier. Places worth a visit are National Trust Hardwick Hall and Chesterfield for its Crooked Spire Church. As we had paid our visit by BACS on the day of arrival we never saw the owners during our 8 nights stay, only managed to speak to them by phone, which we found strange. Please click on the photos to enlarge (this will open the photo on another page) Thanks for looking. Aerial View of Site Site Layout Site Entrance

Gate Farm CL Fen End Road, Solihull. CV8 1NW Date visited – March 2022 Unit - Car/Caravan or Motor-home Price per night - £20.00 incl 12 units of Electricity per night (then 0.25p per unit thereafter) This is a Caravan Club CL Access to the site is through electrically operated gates which require a key-fob (provided at check-in) to operate after 7pm. The CL site is further down the track passing the homes of the owners to the site gate adjacent to the caravan storage area and is securely located in the centre of the farm with exceptional views across the valley and surrounding farmland and offers enhanced fully serviced hardstanding pitches which will accommodate caravan and awning, car will need to be parked on the grass. 16amps electric hook-up with 12 units per night are included per night, (after that a charge of 25p per unit is added and needs to be paid on the day of departure) also free Wi-Fi is available, we did find we had to sign back into the network each day. The site is close to Birmingham Airport so planes pass intermittently, but at other times the site is peaceful and has no light pollution. The main entrance to the farm is secured with automatic gates which are operated after 7pm by a supplied key fob. The site is motorhome friendly (maximum length 8.5 metres) and has ground-level disposal points at each pitch. Dogs are welcome but, because there are farm animals here, dogs must be kept on a lead at all times. There are no dog walks on site but there are adjacent footpaths. This site is approx 20 minutes drive to the National Exhibition Centre, (so useful for Caravan Shows and Crufts), Birmingham Airport and Kenilworth village. Local shops are within 3 miles, we had a meal at the local Italian Restaurant Tipperary Inn food was very nice but a tad pricy. The Heart of England Way long distance path passes the site and crosses other shorter distance footpaths. National Trust’s Packwood House and Baddesley Clinton - all within easy reach on minor roads, both have good walks and cafes. Booking this site must be done via their website caravan.gatefarm.org/ and payment made in full. The owners were very friendly and were available when needed. Agoligies for not being around lately, not been too well. Anyone booked anything for 2022 yet? We are away Tuesday for 3 nights at Sherwood Pines. Mike & Hazel Hi Mike hope you are on the road to recovery. We are due to go away on Wednesday to Chesterfield for 8 nights to a CL, booked it a few weeks ago only to get a long awaited appointment on 14th March to see the surgeon for an operation, been in and out of hospital since August last year but they would not operate then until I got over an infection, so hopefully should not have to wait too long, so will go to the hospital directly from site on the day and return after, if we have the time and weather is on our side, we might either stay on same site or move onto another, we were looking at Ferry Meadows but they are fully booked at the weekends so could not get the full time there, oh well. We have booked all of June though. Take care hope you have a great break. Paul

Update Second service was carried out last month by the same AWS guy as last year.
He was not going to do the brakes this year due to not covering enough miles, but as I had an issue with the van feeling like I was towing an artic and the brakes were quite hot, he was concerned that the sealed for life bearings might have leaked, After having the issue with last tow. I had already had the van on stands to check free play of brakes and gap for ATC and all was OK, (he was not available to check for me). With fingers crossed and sending every prayer up he removed the one shot nuts and pleased to say all was well, no damage to anything. I had said to him that I had a slight brake squeal, so he roughed up the brake drum and shoes lightly when I returned it to storage not a peep. All I am waiting for now is Dometic to get their act together and supply my dealer with 3 replacement blinds as the cords are fraying due to burrs on the holes. When they are in they will fit the replacement "modified" cooker lid that decided to leave its home during a trip to our site back in June, (Yes that has been on order since then and just arrived at the dealer) It is a pity they could not be as customer focused as BCA were in June when our charger decided to pack up, they got one delivered to me at site the next day. So really hoping the revised estimated delivery of the blinds to my dealer in early December will happen so we can get away early January/February. Dependent on how much of the white stuff we get.
