We are off to St George De Didonne next to Royan on 27th via the tunnel,Georgestopping at the Aire de Baiae Somme then down to Camping Bois Soleil at St George De Didonne. We went to Oradour - Sur - Glane about 3 years ago. I think with it being left as it was at the end makes you realise what the people went through. Les We did Oradour-Sur-Glane a few years ago and agree, what surprised us was the lack of birds, we have virtually done all the "historic" first & second world war areas of France now, just want to do Ypres.

Hi Mike, 2nd trip out this year to Chatsworth Caravan Club Site Please add
5 nights at £22.22 per night total miles towed 90
Towing in the snow blizzard today on the M1 was "interesting" to see drivers racing into the blanket of snow at speed no wonder there's accidents.
Thanks Paul

Due to having a back operation end of November and unable to drive for 7 weeks, we cancelled our usual Christmas 10 nights away as we felt towing might irritate, so we have re-booked 2nd week in Jan 18, (a lot cheaper is a bonus) we have others in the pipeline for March a full month away in June, then Sept.
Looking forward to getting out in the van again and also testing the replaced (under warranty) Ozio seating out.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all
Paul

Hi, Has anyone had experience of an Ecocamel showerhead? Does it live up to the claims made in the advert? I want to extend the time the shower runs hot. Thanks. Tezza. Hi Tezza, We have this shower head in the present van and say from personal experience that it is a slight improvement from our previous vans standard head, it drags air in from the hole in the base of the head, but when you turn the water off you still get a dribble of water from the hole as it settles down, plus as we put the head on the floor during transit we always place it on a towel as water will still weep out. Depending on how hot you like your showers the water will not last long if you leave it running, we do turn off during lathering though. HTH's Paul

We went on The first day Tuesday it was the only day we could go, unfortunately I didn't get any pictures. I was expecting it to be very busy, I was very surprised at how few people were there. We could o in any Vans or motorhomes without having to wait. My only shock was in one of the Eldiss vans and there was a tv point in the bedroom but nowhere to put a tv. Whilst I was at Black Knowl I was talking to someone who went on Thursday and he said about the lack of visitors. I am thinking that this October show could stop and just have the February one. Which will be no good for me as I spend January and February in Spain. Overall I was very disappointed in the show. Les Having been to both the Feb and Oct shows in previous years, I always thought the Oct show had more visitors. But I wonder if the lack of visitors are down to the governments decision to start to reduce/stop diesel and petrol car manufacture in the near future and no doubt increase Excise duty on those remaining have had a knock on effect to potential sales.

I can see both sides but I was trying to give the other side of the coin. It is frustrating to arrive on a site and find that the season pitches are not occupied for the full duration of the short stayer when the short stayer could have enjoyed the outlook given to the empty van. Just a thought, I wonder in the example you gave, the seasonal price is cheaper than that charged to short stayers, so more money is made and the better positions are offered to the non-seasonal.

on a site I was on seasonal pitches was marked with purple peg and they was the ones they had to use , do they no longer let you choose where your seasonal pitch is , if this is the case I would not be doing it in the future ,as we see the bad places they put them and it has put us off I am of the opposite thoughts you have regarding seasonal pitches. I do not see why the seasonal's should be able to take up the best pitches as they are not always fully occupied during the season, so when, say I arrive, for 2 weeks I have to pitch on a not so pretty outlook but paying top prices. Sorry

Roden Nurseries Roden Lane, Roden, Telford, Shropshire, TF6 6BP Pitch fee for 2017: £14 per night. No deposit taken at the time of booking Open all Year, The CC website states earliest arrival is 1pm, but we noticed others arriving well before that time, so best to ask when booking. 1 Acre all pitches are in a line and on hard standing, with good sized pitches with hedging to separate each pitch Adults Only We stayed here on in September 2017 for 6 nights. The site is an adult’s only site, has easy access which is down a private road to the nurseries, you need to book in at the check-out till before pitching. The road on the site is tarmac, but if you are to use pitch 5 then you will need to reverse onto site or use a mover. Each pitch is on a hard standing with grass for awnings. Each pitch had its own16amp EHU, and fresh water tap (you will need extension water pipes to most of the pitches if you intend to connect directly to the tap) , the grey water was drained into hedge. Waste bins were located along the site and emptied regularly. The chemical toilet empty point is located well away from the site near to the nurseries toilet block (shared) in a shed, most campers used their cars to empty their tanks. We were disappointed to find the grass had not been cut despite only us were on site for 3 nights before any other campers arrived and then when the site was full (on Saturday) the owners decided to come and cut the grass so did not look nice when other campers left, it was not cut again while we were there. The site also had a caravan/motor home wash facilities just off site. The nurseries have a cafe which we did not use. View of pitches Sunset at Roden Chemical Toilet Empty Point in shed

Neuadd wen Brynhoffnant, Llandysul, Ceredigion, SA44 6EA Pitch fee for 2017: £15 per night. No deposit taken at the time of booking Open all Year, The CC website states earliest arrival is 2pm, but we were told we could arrive anytime, so best to ask when booking. 1 Acre all pitches are against the hedge in a line Adults Only No Dogs. Owner is: Mrs N J Rowe nicolajane63@hotmail.co.uk We stayed here on in September 2017 for 7 nights. We had a very warm welcome from the owner. The site is an adults only site, and no dogs, has easy access which is down a private road. Each pitch is on grass. 16amp EHU, grey water drainage into hedge, recycling and general waste bins and chemical toilet empty point are available. We had the site to ourselves so was very quiet, owner was very friendly and knowledgeable, the only negative we had of this site was the grass was too long and in need of cutting. Whilst we were here we managed to get a boat trip in New Quay to see dolphins swimming near to the harbour £10 each for 1 hour. Seals were also seen at Penrhyn. The weather was the worst we have experienced for September it rained everyday and most of the night with very strong winds. There is a garage close by with a shop and gas is available. Please note this is a working farm so you will hear farm vehicles etc. We stayed here on in September 2017 for 3 nights. Tesco with fuel is within 5 mins drive away, Aldi is also close by. Red Kites are often seen over head. We only used this site as a base to visit the wife’s sister who lives in the next village. The site owner also owns a local butcher’s and will give campers discount on any meat bought during your stay. This site is also adjacent to an 18 hole golf course with restaurant and bar. The lake also has a cafe. View of Paddock View of CL and Camping Pods opposite View of the water feature on the Lake
