I do agree that it is expensive but we balance that against the convenience of where the site is. Being motorhomers we like to be as near to public transport as possible as we don't take the van off site once we are there. For convenience the site gets 10 out of 10. In 35 years we have not used many CL's as they are often too remote. Funnily enough we did try and get on a couple this year but they were full when we wanted to stay.

In November we stayed at the above campsite which is part of the Morris Leisure Group. Its very handy for visiting Shrewsbury as the Park and Ride is next door to the site. See review here www.davidklyne.co.uk/oxon_hall_touring_park.htmlDavid

When we went to France for a month recently we used about 8/9 campsites and two of them were in the ACSI book and the others were mainly Municipals. I have purchased Camping Cheques from the French site in the past but tend not to bother with them now. I suppose if you have a few favourite campsites that accept them its worth while but less so if you prefer not to tie up money in cheques.

I think the points are remaining the same for Tesco shopping so if you fill up with fuel that will all help. If you have a credit card that incorporates the Club Card you will get points for using both although the quantity is earned is not the same.
I don't think the reduction in points is down to the new man in charge at Tesco. The EU has recently forced a change in the rules on transaction changes, reducing them to about .2/.3% of transaction where as in the past it has been as much as 3% Making that much money on each transaction allowed all sorts of reward schemes to flourish but I suspect many of them will be cutting back in the near future.

Its certainly different. The Cherry Hinton site is in an old quarry where as the C&CC site is nice and open. We don't have a car to rely on now we have the motorhome so I expect the CC site is a little more convenient as there is a pub/restaurant nearby. It would be a hard choice as to which one to go back to.

Its not in the Congestion Charge area but is within the LEZ zone. If you go onto the Transport for London website you can enter your registration number to confirm your vehicle is able to use the zone. Generally Euro engines class 4 and 5 are OK and perhaps 3 but you need to check.

Mike
Thanks for taking the trouble to do that. At some stage I will need a knee replacement so I have to be careful how far I walk. Last week we were in London and on a couple of days I clocked up over five miles in total but that was in chunks rather than a continuous walk. Six months ago Margaret had a major heart operation so neither of us can over do it.

Mike
How far is it to walk to the Menin Gate? Are there shops nearby?
Thanks

We have recently returned from 5 nights at this campsite. Its particularly handy for motorhomers as there is a Park and Ride adjacent. It has limited awning pitches and the majority of pitches are on tarmac hardstandings. See here for report and pictures www.davidklyne.co.uk/cheltenham_racecourse_cc_site.htmlDavid

Not much use to the OP but I have to say that one of the things I enjoy having changed to a motorhome is none of the faffing around connected with towing and setting off.

Might just be worth checking that you are trying to tune the TV to digital programmes rather than analogue?

You may find there is already vinyl under the carpet. Have a look under the seats as caravan carpet rarely goes all the way to the edge.

That's interesting Mike. I wonder if it will ever become law or whether it will become law but never enacted by the Police like so many other laws? I did wonder if the tinted windows comments was aimed at blacked out glass rather than the normal tint/privacy glass?
